Firms Should Take Risks, Back a Winner

Shame on us. It’s all about the “bling bling” and not the “thing thing” (“Reebok Won’t Foot the Bill for Bryant’s Shoe Endorsement,” Feb. 15).
The “thing thing” being excellence, commitment, rigor, intelligence and integrity. Kobe Bryant has all that and should be held up as such.
I look forward to the day when an American company has the courage to endorse a winner in life, not just what they think the consumers will be attracted to.
Good and bad habits come with repetition. Take a risk, change the thought process of what is viewed to be cool.
