PRI Tops Fox’s Party in State Balloting
Mexican President Vicente Fox’s party lost ground in a weekend state vote, official results showed, putting him in a difficult position before a July election for Congress.
Fox’s National Action Party won 28% of the seats in the 75-member legislature of Mexico state. It had won 39% of the legislative seats in the last election. The former ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, in alliance with the Green Party, won 34% of the seats in the legislature.
The leftist Democratic Revolution Party won 23%, according to election board results.
