Suspected Islamic Rebels Kill 11 in Kashmir
Suspected Islamic rebels attacked a police post in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, killing nine police officers and two civilians, police said.
An additional eight police officers and one civilian were wounded in the attack late Saturday in the Gool area, 95 miles north of Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir state.
At least three rebel groups claimed responsibility for the attack, which police said was apparently in retaliation for the killing of a suspected rebel leader last week by Indian forces.
