President Aleksander Kwasniewski said early elections may be needed if Premier Leszek Miller fails to keep Poland on course for joining the European Union in a referendum less than three months away.

Miller has been shaken by allegations of corruption involving political allies. A parliamentary inquiry heard that he did not inform prosecutors about an alleged attempt by a friend to solicit a $17.5-million bribe from a newspaper.
