R.I. Tragedy Prompting Action on Fireworks
In response to last month’s catastrophic Rhode Island nightclub fire, Anaheim will consider an ordinance today to require venue operators, event promoters and performers to get permits for public fireworks displays.
The city’s code now imposes criminal sanctions on anyone who sets off dangerous fireworks without a permit, but it does not regulate fireworks, special effects or open-flame devices that are used for entertainment purposes.
The meeting will start at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
