Ex-Forest Worker Begins Arson Sentence
From Times Wire Reports
A former U.S. Forest Service worker who admitted starting Colorado’s largest wildfire entered a federal facility in Texas to begin a six-year sentence.
In Denver, meanwhile, federal prosecutors filed a motion to preserve the right to appeal a judge’s denial of assigning restitution in the arson case involving Terry Lynn Barton, 39.
The U.S. had requested $14.7 million to cover firefighting costs and restoration of Pike National Forest. The request was denied by a federal judge when Barton was sentenced on Feb. 21.
