55% in Poll Say U.S. Underestimated Foe
More than half of Americans think the United States underestimated how much resistance Iraqi forces would put up against a U.S. invasion, and even more expect America to face a significant number of casualties in a war that could last months, new polls say.
Fifty-five percent believe that the U.S. underestimated Iraqi resistance, according to a CBS News poll. Two-thirds said they believe the war will last months.
Eighty-two percent said they think a significant number of casualties will result, an ABC-Washington Post poll found.
