College Republicans Defy Stereotypes

Share

Re “Republican Protesters on Berkeley Campus,” letters, April 29: I find it offensive that a letter writer is of the opinion that college Republicans are rich kids unwilling to make sacrifices. Personally, I do not drive a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz. In fact, I drive nothing because I’m a college student and can’t afford a car. Not only am I broke, but I also am incurring debts to help pay for my education. This is true of every college Republican I know.

Second, who is he to judge our willingness to go to war? Several of the club members here at Loyola Marymount University belong to the ROTC. I personally came within inches of attending the U.S. Naval Academy, and many, many friends of mine have been called off to war.

And if this country needed me in Operation Enduring Freedom I would be among the first to enlist.
