Ivory Coast’s strict night-time curfew was lifted after nearly eight months, a move seen as another step toward peace in the West African country. The decision announced on state radio comes a week after Ivory Coast’s civil war enemies agreed a cease-fire.

State radio said President Laurent Gbagbo had signed a decree lifting the curfew first imposed on Sept. 19, the day renegade soldiers tried to seize the main city of Abidjan and oust Gbagbo.
