Hunt for Jesse James Leads to Farmer’s Grave

Authorities have exhumed the remains of a farmer who died in 1935, in an effort to determine whether he could have been the legendary outlaw Jesse James.
As about two dozen people watched, a Wichita State University anthropologist and criminal justice professor oversaw the removal of Jeremiah James’ remains. Samples of hair, bones and teeth will be obtained for DNA analysis.
Some historians believe it’s possible the outlaw faked his death in 1882, although others believe James was killed by a fellow bandit who wanted to collect a $10,000 reward.
