Secondhand Smoke

Share

It’s hardly surprising the tobacco industry has funded a study that suggests there is no link between secondhand smoke and lung cancer or heart disease (May 16). What did surprise me, however, was UCLA’s willingness to accept partial funding from the tobacco industry for a secondhand-smoke study. Did UCLA not see the conflict of interest? I’m more inclined to believe what the American Cancer Society, the World Health Organization and other health organizations report: Secondhand smoke is dangerous, cancer-causing and should be avoided.
