6 to 9 Hurricanes Expected Off Atlantic

Forecasters have predicted a busier-than-normal Atlantic hurricane season: six to nine hurricanes overall, including two to four with winds of at least 111 mph. Higher-than-normal ocean temperatures and other factors are likely to invite hurricanes in the season that runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, said James Mahoney of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
