Sri Lanka needs international aid after its worst flooding in five decades, which has killed at least 300 people and left an estimated 150,000 homeless, the government said.

An additional 200 people are missing, many buried by landslides in the weekend deluge.

“I appeal to the international community to urgently help us with bottled water, shelter material, clothes and medicine,” Rehabilitation Minister Jayalath Jayawardene said.
