Monarchs Use the Sun to Navigate to Mexico

Monarch butterflies depend on an internal clock and the position of the sun to correctly navigate from the northern United States to central Mexico, according to a paper published in the journal Science.
Scientists at the University of Massachusetts manipulated the monarchs’ internal clocks by subjecting them to different patterns of light and darkness while they were developing.
