Zero Tolerance Policy Teaches Only Apathy

Re “Zero Tolerance, Zero Sense,” Editorial, May 7:

Your editorial regarding the young student punished for waiting two hours to step forward with the pocketknife was right on the mark. The only thing I would add is that this sort of thing stays with a person well into adulthood. This type of teaching only teaches apathy, nothing more.
