From Times Wire Reports
Lee Boyd Malvo, a suspect in a string of sniper shootings in the Washington area last year, is scheduled to go on trial today in Chesapeake in the slaying of an FBI analyst.
Malvo, 18, faces a murder count and a weapons charge in the death of Linda Franklin, who was shot and killed Oct. 14, 2002, in a parking lot in Virginia.
Both murder charges carry a possible death sentence.
Malvo’s attorneys have indicated that he will plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
