Mark Jackson to Try Out for NBA Job With ABC

Share

Al Michaels and 16-year NBA veteran Mark Jackson will be courtside at Staples Center tonight for what ABC spokesman Mark Mandel called a “rehearsal-audition.”

Michaels and Jackson will be wearing headphones and calling the action for the Lakers’ game against the Toronto Raptors but only for the benefit of ABC executives.

Mandel said this was one of several such sessions planned with candidates being considered to work alongside play-by-play announcer Michaels when ABC begins televising NBA games Christmas Day.

David Robinson and Jack Ramsay are believed to be other candidates.

Jackson, who was with the Clippers for two seasons in the early 1990s, spent last season with the Utah Jazz.
