Satellites for Spying on N. Korea Destroyed

A Japanese rocket carrying two spy satellites meant to monitor North Korea failed to reach orbit and had to be destroyed, space officials said.
The launch of the domestic H2-A rocket had been delayed three times since Sept. 10 because of technical glitches.
Tokyo orbited its first two spy satellites in March, prompting protests from Pyongyang. Japan says the satellites also would be used for other missions, such as monitoring weather.
