Politicians Arrested, Accused of Rebel Ties

Colombian authorities arrested 29 local politicians in the violent northern region of Arauca, including the mayor of the provincial capital, on suspicion that they had links to leftist rebels, the army said.
Candidates in a municipal and provincial election set for Sunday were among those held, said Gen. Eduardo Morales. Authorities say Marxist rebels have infiltrated local government.
