From Times Wire Reports

An alleged Irish Republican Army dissident arrested on suspicion of involvement in Northern Ireland’s deadliest car bombing was charged with conspiring to cause explosions and possessing explosives.

The 34-year-old man, who was expected to be identified publicly today, had been interrogated for three days about the Aug. 15, 1998, attack in Omagh, which killed 29 people and wounded more than 300.

The attackers had hoped to derail the 1998 Good Friday peace accord. The charges against the suspect did not specify Omagh.
