Tycoon May Gain Asylum in Britain
Boris Berezovsky, a Russian tycoon and former political insider who ran afoul of the Kremlin, said he had been granted political asylum in Britain, a Moscow radio station reported.
A British government source confirmed that Berezovsky had tentatively been granted refugee status. The source said the final decision rested with Home Secretary David Blunkett.
Russia charges that Berezovsky and an associate defrauded a regional government of the equivalent of $13 million in the 1990s. He says the charges are politically motivated.
