Work Resumes, But the Power Is Still Out

From Times Wire Reports

Four days after Hurricane Isabel barreled into the East Coast, thousands of people went back to work without the benefit of hot showers and encountered miles of blank traffic lights and downed power lines.

Nearly 1.5 million customers remained without electricity. Elderly residents were shuttled by boat from their flooded homes. And hundreds of roads were shut because of toppled trees and power lines.

At least 36 deaths have been blamed on the storm.
