From Times Wire Reports

The United States imposed sanctions against 13 foreign companies for selling equipment or technology to Iran that can be used for unconventional weapons, the State Department said.

Five of the companies are from China, and two each are from Macedonia and Russia. The others are from Belarus, North Korea, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.

State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said the sanctions barred the U.S. government from dealing with or providing assistance to the firms. He said they did not apply to the respective governments.
