A U.S. murder suspect hanged himself while on suicide watch in a prison near Grenoble.
Paul Eduardovich Goldman, 39, of New Jersey, killed himself Sunday, said his lawyer, Arnaud Levy-Soussan. Goldman was captured Jan. 20 in France, where he fled after allegedly killing his lover, Faina “Fay” Zonis, 42, who was found dead in her Philadelphia mortgage office Dec. 29.
U.S. prosecutors said they still intended to prosecute Goldman’s wife, Irina Sapiro, 42, who was accused of helping her husband flee to Europe.
