4 Schools in Running for National Award

Four county schools have been nominated for the national Blue Ribbon Schools award.
The schools are Laguna Road Elementary in Fullerton, Melinda Heights Elementary in Rancho Santa Margarita, Peters Canyon Elementary in Tustin and Jessie Hayden Elementary in Midway City, a state education spokeswoman said.
They are among 35 schools nominated statewide. The U.S. Department of Education will announce winners in September.
