Renegade Soldiers Advance Against Troops

Renegade soldiers have advanced in eastern Congo, taking control of two more villages during clashes with government troops, United Nations officials said.
“We were told by a local source that the fighting had stopped as of this morning. There is no information on casualties,” said Jacqueline Chenard, a U.N. spokeswoman in Goma, capital of the eastern province of North Kivu.
