I am shocked that Rachel Abramowitz even thinks to compare the fame and stature of Howard Hughes to the relatively small fame of Leonardo DiCaprio [“The High Fliers,” Dec. 12]. Hughes was a man who built TWA and Hughes Aircraft. He broke world aviation speed records and was even given a congressional medal. He was a producer of films, owned RKO and supposedly launched the careers of several now-famous actresses.

In terms of fame as an actor, I can think of far better choices, such as Tom Hanks.
