The Defense Department last week also identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq and Kuwait:

Lionel Ayro, 22, of Jeanerette, La.; private first class, Army. Ayro was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul, Iraq, when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 73rd Engineer Company, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Christopher W. Barnett, 32, of Baton Rouge, La.; first lieutenant, Army National Guard. Barnett died Thursday in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 156th Armor Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team in Shreveport, La.

Jonathan Castro, 21, of Corona, Calif.; specialist, Army. Castro was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 73rd Engineer Company, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Thomas J. Dostie, 20, of Sommerville, Maine; specialist, Army National Guard. Dostie was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 133rd Engineer Battalion in Portland, Maine.

Donald B. Farmer, 33, of Zion, Ill.; staff sergeant, Army. Farmer was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 19 in Shuaybah, Kuwait, when a vehicle struck them. He was assigned to 180th Transportation Battalion, 13th Corps Support Command at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Cory M. Hewitt, 26, of Stewart, Tenn.; specialist, Army. Hewitt was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. Hewitt was assigned to 705th Ordnance Company at Ft. Polk, La.

William W. Jacobsen Jr., 31, of Charlotte, N.C.; captain, Army. Jacobsen was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Robert S. Johnson, 23, of Castro Valley, Calif.; staff sergeant, Army. Johnson was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Paul D. Karpowich, 30, of Bridgeport, Pa.; sergeant first class, Army Reserve. Karpowich was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 390th Infantry Regiment in Webster, N.Y.

Nicholas C. Mason, 20, of King George, Va.; specialist, Army National Guard. Mason was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 276th Engineer Battalion in West Point, Va.

Julian S. Melo, 47, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; staff sergeant, Army. Melo was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Berry K. Meza, 23, of League City, Texas; sergeant, Army. Meza was one of two soldiers killed Dec. 19 in Shuaybah, Kuwait, when a vehicle struck them. Meza was assigned to 180th Transportation Battalion, 13th Corps Support Command at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Robert D. O’Dell, 38, of Manassas, Va.; sergeant major, Army. O’Dell was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Intelligence & Security Command at Ft. Belvoir, Va.

Neil D. Petsche, 21, of Lena, Ill.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Petsche died Tuesday from injuries received in a vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.

Lynn R. Poulin Sr., 47, of Freedom, Maine; sergeant, Army National Guard. Poulin was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. Poulin was assigned to 133rd Engineer Battalion in Belfast, Maine.

David A. Ruhren, 20, of Stafford, Va.; specialist, Army National Guard. Ruhren was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 276th Engineer Battalion in West Point, Va.

Darren D. VanKomen, 33, of Bluefield, W.Va.; staff sergeant, Army. VanKomen was among a group of soldiers killed Tuesday in Mosul when their dining facility was attacked. He was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Ft. Lewis, Wash.
