11 Servicemen, Police Are Killed in Chechnya

Rebel attacks and land mines killed 11 Russian servicemen and police officers in Chechnya over a 24-hour period, an official in the region’s Kremlin-backed administration said.
Four of the soldiers were killed in rebel attacks on Russian outposts, three died in skirmishes in the southern mountains, and two were killed when their truck hit a land mine, the official said. Two Chechen policemen were found shot to death on a street in Grozny, the Chechen capital, the official said.
