* Hughes Electronics Corp. named Bruce Churchill, former president and chief operating officer at News Corp.’s Star television unit, as chief financial officer. Hughes, the DirecTV parent that was acquired by News Corp. in December, also promoted General Counsel Larry Hunter to executive vice president. Romulo Pontual, an executive vice president at News Corp., was named an executive vice president at Hughes.
