Diane Kron, who used to be the personal chocolate maker to Jacqueline Kennedy, opened K Chocolatier in Beverly Hills four years ago.

What’s the connection between chocolate and love? Well, there can be love without chocolate. But chocolate makes it better. And it’s not a superficial thing. It’s always called the food of the gods. You’re giving an elixir and almost like a potion, a love potion.

So does chocolate have aphrodisiac powers? Some people attribute that to it. What it actually does -- and this has been chemically proven -- is raise serotonin levels, which is the feel-good chemistry of your body. And then you take it from there.

Is Valentine’s Day like D-day at a chocolate shop? It’s huge. We sell out practically every day for a whole week prior to Valentine’s Day. I have the factory going 24 hours a day to keep up with demand. Christmas is huge too, but it’s spread over two months.

I assume men are the big buyers. Men come because the women send them. He’s her agent for euphoria.

Ever get sick of chocolate? Never. In fact if I don’t have chocolate each day I feel something’s missing. But I’m not having it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’m having it when my psyche tells me to have it.

Your psyche, not your stomach? It’s in your soul. There have been all these studies. The things women crave most are sex, chocolate, shopping and something else. Chocolate’s way up there.

If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, what’s chocolate? You can’t eat diamonds.
