Intelligence Official Slain; Gunman Kills Self

A gunman killed an Afghan intelligence official in the troubled eastern city of Khowst, then blew himself up as he was chased by the official’s bodyguards. The ousted Taliban militia claimed responsibility for the attack.
The deputy intelligence chief of Khowst province, Maj. Mohammed Isa Khan, was shot to death, a government spokesman said.
