County to Purchase Firefighting Helicopter
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The county Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to buy a firefighting helicopter for $3.5 million and to spend $22,500 on a study that would outline an operational plan.
The money for the helicopter will come from the 2003 fiscal year budget; the annual operating cost of $1.5 million to $2 million will be financed by the 2004 budget.
The helicopter, with a 400-gallon capacity, will be able to transport equipment and firefighters.
