“The Good Soul of Szechwan”: Under Gulu Monteiro’s astute stewardship, this sharp new execution honors Bertolt Brecht: It’s anti-naturalistic, deliberately off-kilter, and the spectator is all-important. The laconic translation is by Clara Bellar in collaboration with the other actors and Monteiro, and its loping whimsy feels authentic. The choreography is just enough; the sleek costumes and masks display wit without fanfare. The selfless ensemble is remarkable, centered by Bellar’s translucent simplicity as the title character.
