From Times Wire Reports

A Tanzanian accused of conspiracy in the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam was found not guilty by three court assessors. Their decision is not binding on the judge.

Rashid Saleh Hemed, 33, denies involvement in the Aug. 7, 1998, attack that killed 11 Tanzanians in the East African country’s commercial capital. Authorities blame Al Qaeda.

FBI agents and local police seized clothes from Hemed’s home that prosecutors say bore traces of bomb chemicals, but Hemed has told the court his clothes were mixed up with those belonging to others.
