From Times Wire Reports

A Food and Drug Administration panel decided to add the flu strain that caused the most illnesses this year to next year’s vaccine.

The advisory committee joined the World Health Organization in deciding to add Fujian A to the vaccine, which will also contain an A strain that was in this year’s vaccine.

The vaccine will include two strains of type A flu and one of type B.

The committee tentatively decided to keep the current Shanghai B in the vaccine. That could change in the unlikely event of a major outbreak of B type flu before the panel confirms its action March 17.
