From Times Wire Reports

Thousands of protesters marched past Albania’s heavily fortified government headquarters in Tirana, the capital, demanding that Prime Minister Fatos Nano resign over corruption allegations and his failure to improve living conditions in one of Europe’s poorest nations.

The protesters ignored an order to stay away from the building, issued after demonstrators tried to storm it Feb. 7. But police did not try to disperse the crowd.

International observers estimated that 6,000 to 20,000 people participated in the march, organized by former President Sali Berisha’s Democratic Party and nine other opposition groups.
