Obscenity Laws

Re “U.S. Plans to Escalate Porn Fight,” Feb. 14: Obscenity laws are illogical, and it’s time Congress repealed them. Who is the government to say what is and isn’t obscene? I personally don’t like the type of pornography that the government would classify as obscene. But some people do. And there’s nothing wrong with that. What people want to look at in the privacy of their own homes is nobody else’s business.

Regarding pornography, that society is healthiest which pays the least attention to it. Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft and Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt are similarly obsessed.
