Humorist Art Buchwald will be honored this month by the National Assn. for Research on Depression and Schizophrenia for talking openly about his depression.

The 78-year-old Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist of the Washington Post will be feted Jan. 12 at a gala in Sarasota, Fla.

Buchwald revealed his depression on CNN’s “Larry King Live” nearly eight years ago.

At the time, he said he had two “bad periods” that required hospitalization, in 1963 and 1987.
