A Somalian national has been indicted for allegedly lying about receiving money from an Islamic charity that the U.S. government has labeled a terrorist front, officials said Friday.

Omar Abdi Mohamed, 41, purportedly denied, when applying for U.S. citizenship, that he had received money from the Illinois-based Global Relief Foundation.

Mohamed is in federal prison in downtown San Diego, awaiting arraignment. If convicted, he could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
