A Sanger couple alleged that their 14-year-old daughter was hog-tied with duct tape and partly stripped by her teammates during a hazing incident.

They are suing the school district, the high school’s athletic director and two soccer coaches, alleging that the events, which allegedly happened during a trip to a Bakersfield soccer tournament in December 2002, qualified as sexual assault.

The lawsuit said the student had been bound and stripped in a room occupied by the head coach and an assistant coach, and had been subjected to verbal and physical abuse from teammates throughout the year.

The district superintendent’s lawyer said the allegations were “unwarranted, unjustified and untrue.”
