Hearst Sues to Block Driveway Expansion

From Times Wire Reports

William Randolph Hearst III, grandson of publishing empire founder William Randolph Hearst, is suing the city over a plan to improve the Mountain Home Inn on Panoramic Highway.

Hearst and his wife, Margaret, live on a five-acre tract next door and fear the project would be intrusive.

“The Mountain Home Inn driveway is already on Hearst property,” said John Sanger, Hearst’s lawyer. “Traffic, noise, double parking, people parking in their driveway -- these already exist for the Hearsts and would just be aggravated.”

The lawsuit alleges that city officials violated the California Environmental Quality Act and the city Municipal Code when they granted parking and setback variances, design review and a use permit for an expansion of the inn.
