An organization that advocates on behalf of rural Americans took out an ad in the Philadelphia Inquirer this week criticizing UPN’s plans to air an unscripted series that follows five Amish young people who are sent to live with non-Amish peers in a Hollywood Hills home.

“What kind of person could relish millions of viewers snickering as vulnerable Amish youth are set up by TV producers for a humiliating up-close and personal fall from grace?” asks the ad, purchased by the Whitesburg, Ky.-based Center for Rural Strategies.

It called on readers to visit its website for more information, but the website indicated Thursday that no plan of action had been decided.
