Talkers Then and Now

Re “An L.A. Landmark Transformed,” June 4: I remember my first visit to MacArthur Park in the early 1950s. The park was filled with self-proclaimed orators, pitching their beliefs, either secular or religious. Reading about the transformation, I wondered whatever became of those people who proselytized back then. Is there no one left who wants to promote an agenda? Then it came to me. Talk radio replaced these people.
