Dane Is Appointed U.N. Governor in Kosovo

Veteran international civil servant Soren Jessen-Petersen has been chosen by Secretary-General Kofi Annan to be the new U.N. governor of Kosovo, the United Nations announced.
Jessen-Petersen, a Dane, will succeed Finnish diplomat Harri Holkeri, who announced last month that he was resigning for health reasons. Jessen-Petersen has served since February as the European Union special representative to Macedonia.
