The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq:

Shawn M. Atkins, 20, of Parker, Colo.; private first class, Army. Atkins died Monday in Baghdad as a result of a non-combat injury. He was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 4th Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division in Hanau, Germany.

Jeremy M. Dimaranan, 29, of Virginia Beach, Va.; specialist, Army Reserve. Dimaranan was killed Wednesday in Balad, Iraq, during a mortar attack on his camp. He was assigned to 302nd Transportation Company, 172nd Combat Support Group at Fort Eustis, Va.

Arthur S. Mastrapa, 35, of Apopka, Fla.; sergeant, Army Reserve. Mastrapa was killed Wednesday in Balad, Iraq, during a mortar attack on his camp. He was assigned to 351 Military Police Company, 95th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade in Ocala, Fla.

Eric S. McKinley, 24, of Corvallis, Ore.; specialist, Army National Guard. McKinley was killed June 13 in Baghdad when his vehicle was attacked by small arms fire and an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment in Corvallis, Ore.

Paul R. Syverson III, 32, of Lake Zurich, Ill.; major, Army. Syverson was killed Wednesday in Balad, Iraq, during a mortar attack on his camp. He was assigned to 5th Special Forces Group in Ft. Campbell, Ky.
