Final Tally Gives Liberals 135 Seats
From Times Wire Reports
Final returns in Canada’s election left the long-dominant Liberal Party with 135 of the 308 seats in Parliament’s House of Commons, compared with 99 for the Conservative Party, 54 for the separatist Bloc Quebecois and 19 for the left-wing New Democratic Party. There is one independent member.
The result leaves the Liberals without control but strong enough to lead a minority government.
