President, Separatist Leader to Hold Talks

The Georgian president and the leader of the autonomous republic of Adzharia are to meet today for talks about resolving a crisis that has raised fears of a new civil war.
The meeting was announced after more than seven hours of talks between Georgian parliament Speaker Nino Burjanadze and Adzharian leader Aslan Abashidze. It is to take place at Abashidze’s residence in the Black Sea port of Batumi.
