Army Says Hundreds of Rebels Killed

Nepal’s army said it had killed 500 Maoist rebels in a 12-hour battle after guerrillas stormed a bank, a jail and government buildings in the western city of Beni.
Details were still sketchy, the army said, adding that 18 soldiers and police had also been killed.
