Leftist Party Founder Resigns After Dispute
From Times Wire Reports
Three-time presidential candidate Cuauhtemoc Cardenas has resigned from the leadership of the leftist party he helped found. Cardenas’ resignation Sunday from the national committee of the Democratic Revolutionary Party followed disagreements with the party’s president, Leonel Godoy. Cardenas is still officially a member of the party, Mexico’s third-largest.
Cardenas said his resignation was a personal decision. But he also lashed out at Godoy, who had disagreed with Cardenas on the party leadership structure.
